Why do humans dream?

STORY

The world has been afflicted with a phenomenon known as Somnus Corpus. This phenomenon has resulted in countless people falling into a deep slumber with no signs of being able to awaken. Those who have fallen into this slumber are referred to as the Dreambound. Nobody knows how this phenomenon began or how to counter it.Brought together by a mysterious creature who seems to resemble a tapir, five members are entrusted with the mission to wake the Dreambound and prevent the spread of Somnus Corpus. By gaining access to the Dreamscape, these five are able to enter the dreams of the afflicted and guide them to a resolution so that they may finally reawaken.
